Purpose of the  S.E.L.F. Foundation
Prayer Breakfast

Our  prayer breakfast is for families who have lost loved ones to murder-suicide or other extraordinary circumstances can serve multiple important purposes:

  1. Creating a Supportive Community: It provides a space for individuals and families who have experienced similar traumatic losses to connect. This shared experience can foster a sense of community and mutual understanding, helping attendees feel less isolated in their grief.
  2. Offering Emotional and Spiritual Support: The event can offer emotional and spiritual support through prayer, reflection, and sharing. It can be a time for individuals to find comfort and solace in their faith and to support one another through their shared spiritual journeys.
  3. Facilitating Healing: By coming together in a compassionate environment, participants can begin to heal by expressing their grief, sharing their stories, and receiving empathy and encouragement from others who truly understand their pain.
  4. Providing Resources and Guidance: The breakfast can also serve as an opportunity to provide information about counseling services, support groups, and other resources that can help attendees navigate their grief and trauma.
  5. Encouraging Positive Coping Mechanisms: The event can promote healthy coping strategies and provide inspiration for moving forward. It can also offer practical advice and support for dealing with the challenges that arise in the aftermath of such losses.
  6. Fostering Resilience: By gathering together, families can find strength in their shared experiences and build resilience. Seeing others who have managed to cope and find hope despite their losses can be incredibly encouraging.

Overall, the prayer breakfast aims to create a compassionate space where survivors can connect, support each other, and find hope and healing amidst their shared pain.
